Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Alexandre Ponthier, founder, and CEO of DOUBLEZ VOS VENTES, located in Paris & Montréal.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

DOUBLEZ VOS VENTES is a content website with inspiring ideas for creating your business, unusual advice to boost your sales, as well as e-learning training to go even further.

Tell us about yourself

An entrepreneur since the age of 21, I created Alex & Alex in 2013 in Paris, then opened the first subsidiary in Canada in 2014. It is a service company for office conviviality: fruit baskets, tea, and various snacks are delivered to the workplace.

Today, we are accelerating our development in Canada with the opening of a subsidiary in Toronto this year. Besides Alex & Alex, I also manage several companies, mainly in France and Canada, in different sectors such as real estate, business services, and online business.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

We have competitors, but we address the market in such a different way... We differentiate ourselves in particular by a historical vision of our market and its evolution. This allows us not to reproduce certain errors that our competitors may make. In addition, I have the advantage of having built an international presence in relatively varied sectors of activity. It's a chance to be able to keep growing even when a region or a type of activity comes to underperform.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Stress is inherent in entrepreneurship. I try to manage it as best I can by living as healthy and balanced a life as possible. My favorite sports (mountain biking, high-altitude running, swimming, climbing), but also my favorite relaxation techniques (meditation, fasting) help me a lot in this.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Never be a personal surety for your business.
  2. Nothing is free; nothing is easy.
  3. Be ready to work very hard, and it will be worth it.
