Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Dominika Gejo, Founder of Dominika’s Healing Touch, located in Milton, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a registered Foot Reflexologist, Fertility and Maternity Reflexologist, Reiki practitioner, Intuitive Energy Healer, and Healing Touch practitioner. I see clients of all ages and all orientations, however statistically, mostly women. The holistic modalities practiced are wonderful support for healthy living and a mindful lifestyle.

Reflexology is a therapeutic foot massage based on the premise that there are areas, reflexes, and parts on our feet that correspond to specific organs, systems, and parts of our bodies. By stimulating the feet, I am stimulating the entire body and supporting it into self-healing and homeostasis.

Clients seeking my services are open to alternative ways to tackle their ailments, support their prevention, and/or support their chosen way of getting better, either holistic or mainstream. I also support people on their journey of starting their families during conception, pregnancy, and postpartum. Some call me a “foot whisperer” because I have the ability to read your feet and tell you your story.

Tell us about yourself

I have always been fascinated with how our bodies function, especially the connections within our bodies and the influence of outside stimuli on our physical, emotional, and mental well-being. A long time ago, working at a Foot Clinic in Toronto, I noticed the exceptional correlation between physical ailments and the feet. This got me started with Reflexology and helped me understand the connections and, with years, see them more clearly. After some time, I have done my training in Reiki and a couple of courses in Energy Healing. Just last year, I qualified as Fertility and Maternity Reflexologist.

I love what I do. Meeting new clients is amazing; it brings in more experience each time and expands my knowledge. Long-time clients are wonderful, seeing the change in their lives, the balance they achieve, and their goals and dreams coming true. After every session, the facial expression on the client’s face is my biggest reward. The confirmation that I was able to lift and/or release some of the tension, pain, or unease is why I do what I do. I am changing people’s lives, one pair of feet at a time. 💜

These are the benefits of the modalities that I practice, physical, emotional, and mental:
- Boosts immune system
- Reduces stress and anxiety
- Balances hormones
- Improves digestion and circulation
- Reduces PMS and menopause symptoms
- Relieves pains and aches
- Activates the parasympathetic system
- Highly improves sleep
- Boosts fertility
- Balances blood pressure
- Promotes detoxification
- Relieves migraines
- Increases energy level and much more.

More personally about me: I am a mama of two young men, wife of 30 years 😳 and I have purple hair, which is my favourite colour. I live in Milton and practice in Oakville at Abaton Integrative Medicine clinic.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I really enjoy working at a clinic where there is a lot of empowering feminine energy. I have my own space where clients come to see me. My biggest advertising tool is word of mouth. I love when people talk about me and recommend me to each other because it comes from love vibration. My biggest accomplishments are my clients’ well-being and having them come back to maintain it. Their successes, happiness, ability to move more freely, well-rested nights, healthy boundaries, and well-digested food - are my biggest accomplishments.

I have also won Gold in 2021 and Platinum in 2022 in Oakville Community Votes as the best Reflexologist. 😊

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing that comes with being a business owner is having determination. If your business is your passion, never give up. There are always ups and downs, sometimes not even dependent on your effort, but on the situation in the world, season, or trend. When the moment of uncertainty comes, when it seems less busy than usual, it is hardest not to blame yourself and lose confidence. The need for rational thinking is very important. To assess the situation “outside of yourself.”

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Walk the path. Before your business even starts, start telling people what it is. Introduce yourself as your designation even before you launch.
  2. Know that there will be people who will love your service/product and people who don’t. Unless it is necessary for your business to run to have 7 billion customers, you will be ok! You will attract your clientele of similar vibration to your own, and that’s really all you need.
  3. Attend workshops, meetings, networking groups meet, and anything that has people and tell them who you are when the situation arises. Chit-chat in grocery stores, other stores, cinemas, and so on. Be a familiar face, develop your logo, use it everywhere, and have people see you and know you (it does depend on the business, however people still love personal contact).
