Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sarah Jane Seatherton, Founder and CEO of Do It Daily, located in El Masnou, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a purpose-driven communication specialist that helps people (mostly women) access and embody a power that transcends language. I work with emerging eminent leaders that speak English as their second language and enable them to become as confident as the native speakers in the room, especially when the room is male-dominated!

The majority of my clients are women who have high positions in male-dominated environments. These positions are not easy for women to navigate at the best of times and become even more complicated when we add a second language. My work gets below the surface of the issues they face, helps them manage blocks they have, and allows them to reach higher in order to fulfil their potential and become authentic value-aligned leaders.

Tell us about yourself

It was never my ambition to start my own business, but a well-timed chance meeting with a very encouraging life coach changed that! I'd been an Executive English teacher for years and had been repeatedly told by high-achieving women that they felt their "English wasn't enough." I heard it so much that I just didn't believe that was the problem. Starting my own business was also the start of my journey of investigation into what was behind the "my English isn't good enough" comment.

I have always been interested in transformative education, how people find their voice, how people reach their full potential, and how culture and conditioning play a huge part in how we move through the world. Once I had set up my own business, I was totally free to explore these areas deeply and funnel my findings into my work and use them to best serve my clients and get them past "My English is not good enough"! I'm motivated by wanting to be a part of a conscious world. The more conscious we become, the better chance we have to eradicate systemic prejudices.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My accomplishments come from my clients' accomplishments. When a client starts speaking her truth at work, for example and getting the results she wants from that - it's awesome. I love it.

Secondly, My Power Programs - The Power in You, The Power Tools, and The Power Practice, which will be coming to the market soon. I have been working on them for the last year and am incredibly proud of them.

Lastly, is that I have been able to build a profitable, continually evolving, value-aligned business. If you had told me 10 years ago that I would be doing (and enjoying!!) this, I would not have believed you!!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

As a solopreneur, you have to do everything yourself. So, in my case, I'm a communication specialist. I'm also a business development manager, a social media strategist, a graphic designer, a financial advisor, a personal assistant, and a sales director. And I make the tea. Sound exhausting? Sometimes it is!!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Starting: Talk to your potential client. Find out how your idea would help them. Let their needs lead you in your decision-making.
  2. Running: Be kind to yourself always. What you are doing is not easy. Celebrate your wins, however small. Make sure you have good friends that support you!
  3. Growing: Network, tell people what you do, ask for help unashamedly, and share your enthusiasm for your project - it's contagious!
