What's your business, and who are your customers?

D1 Nutrition is a smoothie nutrition business that incorporates healthy options for the community while promoting higher education to the youth.

Tell us about yourself

I'm a former Aldine ISD teacher and college professor. I opened a nutrition hub that promotes health and wellness in the community while advocating higher education to the locals. As an advocate for higher education, I plan to use my experience in college recruitment and education to provide resources about admissions, SAT/ACT, FAFSA, and scholarships in my shop. However, on a daily basis, I aim to build an experience of community and love in my shop.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment was being able to sponsor and contribute monetarily to my alma mater next door.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Making sure to tackle all licensing and approvals.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Network, step out of your comfort zone, and market.
