Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Leia Dingott, Founder of Dingott Law, located in Dewey, AZ, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a trademark and estate planning attorney. My clients are families who want to build and continue their legacy through a trust that controls who gets when and when. Estate plans also include health care directives that allow a person to choose who they want to make the decision when they are unable. For my trademark practice, I serve businesses that want to secure and protect their brand through federal trademark registration.

Tell us about yourself

I first got started with the estate planning practice in 2020 when I was looking for a practice area that served my community. Until then, I only practiced intellectual property law, preparing and defending patent applications. It was a big business-focused practice area at my old firm. Trademarks I started working on straight out of law school, and I love this area because trademark registration can be just as powerful to a small business or solopreneur as it is to a large, established business.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment so far is serving my clients in anticipation of life changes where they can make a plan that serves their wishes and provides a more simple path for their families than going through a lengthy and often tense court process. I also love to help my trademark clients build and protect their business legacies by securing federal trademark registration.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Having to make all the decisions all the time.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find a group of like-minded people to get and give support. Sometimes you tell another person exactly what you need to hear yourself. Make sure to meet people outside of your own industry as well.
  2. Start simple. You don't need all the things from the start.
  3. Remember to keep going even when it feels like it's not working.
