Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in coaching but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Dianna Leeder, Founder of Crave More Life Coaching, located in Barrie, ON, CA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm an intuitive life and confidence coach, author, and podcaster who helps people get what they want when they find their voice. My clients are primarily (but not exclusively) women who want more and don't know how to get there. Circumstances, historic family dynamics, and ancestral or other traumas have left them feeling that even though they want more, they can't have it. Since life is all about relationships, I focus on the awareness and healing it takes to show up as a whole being, one who knows themselves better than their mom knows them, one who can make conscious choices that serve them and express their needs without hesitation, regret, or apology for who they are. As part of that work, I have written the Find Your Voice, Save Your Life book series, 4 different collaborative books where people contribute a chapter depicting their personal stories of finding their voices and healing through the writing process and offering readers the opportunity to learn from other's experiences and use that awareness to begin their own healing journey.

Tell us about yourself

I began coaching women 11 years ago after losing my own voice. I'd been working in the women's community for decades before that, always on getting silenced voices heard, when I realized I had been holding myself back personally by staying silent and not expressing my true authentic self. I trained as a coach while doing my healing and inner work and haven't looked back. Now I work with women and men on a 1-1 basis and in groups. I train holistic practitioners as Certified Find Your Voice Healers, all based on my model of supporting humans to be themselves. What motivates me? I believe that everyone in the world has had their voice quieted, silenced, or challenged either by others or by themselves during their lifetime and that when people use their voices and express their true selves, they will get what they want.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I was honored to receive a first and a second-place The Bookfest Awards recently for Find Your Voice, Save Your Life 3: Powerful Healers, Spiritual Stories. Along with my ongoing training of Certified Find Your Voice Healers, both these accomplishments send the message of my business and my intention far and wide.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Balancing the desire to help others with the need for a sustainable business. Of course, there is always a push and pull to honor both, but using our heart spaces to create client and program offerings makes both successful.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Have a coach on standby. Just because we're practitioners doesn't mean we don't fall into fears and self-limiting beliefs. Find someone you can check in with regularly for support.
  2. Understand that competition only exists in our egos. Invite and invest in others' work, promote them, collaborate with them, and celebrate their successes. Give as much as you get so everyone benefits.
  3. Be authentically you, not what the world may expect of you. Being aligned with yourself will attract the clients you need to work with.
