Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in skincare but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with John Tucker, CEO of Dermasalt, located in Winchester, KY, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Selling an all-natural skincare and hand sanitizer treatment that aids in sanitizing your skin as well as helping to heal a host of different skin conditions such as psoriasis, acne, rosacea, eczema, sunburn, bug bites, etc. Customers are those who have chronic skin conditions, have tried numerous products, both prescription and nonprescription, that have not worked, and find that our product works when nothing else will.

Tell us about yourself

Have been an entrepreneur all of my life, working in various lines of work; I came to create this business after working with various salt products and created a magical combination that not only works as an all-day hand sanitizer but is proven to aid in bringing back the natural PH balance to your skin which aids in the healing process.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Providing a custom service to others that fixes a chronic problem when no one else is able to do so. I have had success in going that extra step when other providers would not.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Not being able to market and sell a great product effectively while at the same time being bombarded with services and companies that say they can effectively market your product only to find out that they take your money and do not market effectively.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Create the product or service you provide and learn as much as you can upfront about the costs of manufacturing, marketing, and shipping the product.
  2. Learn as much as you can about online digital marketing.
  3. Stay on top of costs associated with digital marketing.
