What's your business, and who are your customers?
Derma Bright Clinic provides optimal aging and acne skincare services as well as a full range of body care and slimming services. We are refining skincare to bring out your best and brightest skin!
Tell us about yourself
I started my business almost by accident. Ten years ago, I came upon the skincare technology I now use and was very impressed with all it could do. I could see that technology was revolutionizing traditional spas and thought with my marketing and HR background, I could use this to create a unique brand to deliver a unique product. Derma Bright Clinic was born. Since then, I have also added an online store, myskinsalon.com, and a retreat business, SimplyDivineRetreats.com. All my businesses promote health and well-being from the inside out!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is lasting now more than ten years and not just surviving but thriving post-pandemic lockdowns the last few years.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
There are a few hard things! They include being self-motivated, taking action daily, and knowing that the buck stops with me and that I have to work sometimes when other people are out having fun. But I don't mind as it is my own business, so there is a feeling of freedom and satisfaction that comes with this.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
The three killers of small businesses are poor cash flow, marketing, and human resources skills. New entrepreneurs need to understand these three areas or find people who do in order to get their business off on the right foot and then have the plan to scale and grow it. I have worked with coaches for much of my ten years, and it really helps to have a community as well as someone to be accountable to other than yourself.
