What's your business, and who are your customers?
DenTemp is a platform that empowers dental professionals, specifically women, with better pay, freedom, and flexibility in a quality work environment!
Tell us about yourself
With almost 20 years in dentistry, I started working as a dental assistant in 2004 and continued practicing after joining the military in 2006. I retired from the Army as an officer in 2014 and graduated from Case Western's dental program in May 2015.
I was working full-time with a few doctors for about three years when they unexpectedly shut down all four of their practices, and I was left with no job. It felt like I had hit a brick wall. I was frustrated and overwhelmed. It seemed as if I was giving up control of my income, career opportunities, and ultimately, my happiness, which is why I created DenTemp.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I come from a proud refugee family that moved to the US from Lebanon in 1988. I grew up in a culture that encouraged me to be a strong female entrepreneur, serving my community and my country.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I would say the hardest thing about being a business owner is finding validation from individuals who help you accomplish your goals. Having a strong support system, such as mentors and advisors, are necessary to grow a successful business.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Have a positive mindset. Negative results can sometimes have a positive outcome.
- Have thick skin. Not everyone is going to agree with your vision.
- Stop overthinking and just start one day at a time, working towards your milestones. As long as your bills are getting paid, put all your extra time into working at something that can potentially change your life!
