What's your business, and who are your customers?
Discovery Mental Health Counseling is a mental health counseling practice that focuses on helping people discover the best in them, rediscover the joy and adventure in this journey called life, and discover their strengths and talents that will launch them into their best life.
Tell us about yourself
I began this practice by working with Latine people who are new immigrants. Now, the practice has over 15 clinicians who are dedicated to working with children, teens, and adults from all walks of life. Many of our clinicians speak Spanish. Seeing people discover something hidden inside them, that spark they forgot they had, keeps me going every day.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Providing a practice for the community that speaks their language, that understands their culture, and that people can find someone that looks like them. We are diverse, inclusive, and protective of our client's dignity.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Time. Managing it, and having extra of it. If you know, you know!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
The thing you are afraid of is probably not really something that can stand in your way. You have a spark; let it burn, and don't let others extinguish it.
What you speak and think about is what you will have. So choose your words and thoughts carefully.
