Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in coaching but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Debra M. Wright, Founder of Debra M Wright Coaching & Consulting, located in Campbellford, ON, CA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Debra M. Wright Coaching and Consulting is an empowerment organization. We seek to inspire clients to kiss the past goodbye and step into their greatness. We show you how to forgive those who have hurt you so you can live a life of freedom.

As women, we wear multiple hats and are always in survival mode, causing us to lose ourselves emotionally and mentally. We spend time trying to please everyone else in our circles of influence.

Debra M. Wright Coaching and Consulting helps divorced women finally feel free to live life on their terms through forgiveness.

Tell us about yourself

I started this journey after my marriage of twenty-five years fell apart. First, I was devasted and broken. Then I became determined to find myself and did a deep dive into forgiving myself and others, aka the ex-spouse.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

As a business owner, I have seen women emerge from their cocoons and become amazing butterflies. I have also helped them to write and publish their stories to bring closure to their life that was filled with pain. They are now doing great things and enjoying life on their terms.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing for me was changing my mindset from not being good in business to "Yes, I can !" Then it was a lot easier after that. As a business owner, you must work longer hours and a lot of time alone. But it gets a lot easier once you establish where you are going.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Three tips I can give to anyone contemplating a business are:

  1. Know your audience and what you are offering.
  2. Have a detailed business plan. This plan is your roadmap to success.
  3. Know that you will have to be prepared to do the work to succeed.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

When we start a business, we often start alone, but you must remember that we are in business for ourselves, not by ourselves. Get a team of people that you can work with to help you carry out your vision. One great piece of advice I got was hiring for your weaknesses and working from your strengths.
