Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in marketing services but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sara Zuboff, Owner of Daybreaker Consulting, located in Beverly Hills, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am the owner of Daybreaker Consulting. We offer business strategy, branding, and marketing for coaches & practitioners who want authentic messaging and elevated marketing plans that attract, engage, and convert.

Tell us about yourself

After college, I started out as a blogger who specialized in SEO. From the very beginning, I have loved helping small businesses and coaches fine-tune their messaging and branding so it feels authentic and resonates with their target market. Building brands is our jam. We know that small business owners often have a great idea but do not have the necessary skill set to build a sustainable and profitable business around it. Whether they are just starting out or looking to scale, we are passionate about helping these businesses thrive.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I started my business when I had a 9-5 job. My biggest accomplishment as a business owner was when I was able to quit that job and focus on building my business and serving my own clients full-time. I am now looking to expand and start hiring my own employees.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Probably the hardest part of being a business owner is that you often have to wear a lot of hats. While it can be wonderful to be completely immersed in the process of building and running a business, it can be tricky sometimes to not let it consume your personal life.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Think of your business as a marathon, not a sprint. In a marathon, there are water breaks...build time for self-care and living your personal life into your schedule, especially if you're starting to hit a wall (which can happen in any marathon). Don't just grind it out. Give yourself some space to recharge.
  2. When you're starting out, and your budget may be stretched thin, it can seem like you HAVE to do it all yourself. You don't. There are different ways to get support in place, from admin to marketing, that won't break the bank. Get the right people to support your mission so you can avoid burning out as a business owner.
  3. Celebrate the wins, no matter how small you may think of them.
