Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in marketing services but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with David McArdle, Founder of The Virtual Marketing Directors, located in Indianapolis, IN, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are a small, focused web design agency in Indianapolis, Indiana. We specialize in small to medium-sized business websites looking for a focus on content and conversions.
Tell us about yourself
I started The Virtual Marketing Directors to help local businesses combine a modern marketing system that includes an engaging website, an automated sales funnel, and a customized SEO strategy. I have seen this recipe work for so many of our clients that I love sharing it with other business owners who are struggling to see improvements in their own website traffic or conversions.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Creating a small business that thrived through COVID and has created a sustainable model helping local businesses.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I would have to say managing expectations. I always try to be very clear on what I can do and what I can't do. I can't magically put your website in the #1 spot on Google, but I do know how to give you the best chance to get seen by your potential customers.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Start small. Take small risks and learn from them. Take your time. When you move too quickly or risk too much initially, you set yourself up for failure. Starting a business is a 10-year venture. If you are not ready to go for at least ten years, do something else. It takes about that much time to become an overnight success.
Where can people find you and your business?
If you like what you've read here and have your own story as a solo or small business entrepreneur that you'd like to share, then please answer these interview questions. We'd love to feature your journey on these pages.
