Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with David Doerrier, Founder of eLearning Voiceover and Present Your Way To Success, located in Alpharetta, GA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I help speakers, trainers, and other presenters engage from any stage and deliver clear, impactful, and memorable - live, and virtual presentations - that I guarantee will motivate their audience to listen, act, and commit to their product, process, and idea!

Tell us about yourself

I'm a US Air Force retiree who went on to a highly successful career in instructional design, classroom and virtual facilitation, and corporate leadership training. With over 25 years of designing and facilitating learning, leading workshops, and delivering hands-on training, I have found that the one subject I enjoy the most is leading programs for professionals who want to learn the skills needed to engage any audience from any stage. I love helping others and seeing them "Get It."

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

One of the great things about being an entrepreneur is that you can use your time and skills to build your ideal life. This year has been full of accomplishments that have helped me reach that goal. This year I was able to increase my revenue by more than double from the previous year. With that, I was able to hit six figures. I also helped to coach clients to increase their business revenue.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things I have had to face as a business owner is dealing with the unknowns. Every day there are new challenges and obstacles to deal with. Business is never predictable, no matter how prepared you are. The truth is you’ll never be 100% ready, but you can be close to it if you’re able to get into the right mind frame to tackle challenges and find solutions.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Understand your customers. Knowing and understanding customer needs is at the center of every successful business, whether it sells directly to individuals or other businesses.
  2. Provide great service. There are many successful businesses that forget that providing great customer service is important. If you provide better service for your customers, they’ll be more inclined to come to you the next time they need something instead of going to your competition.
  3. Learn from others. Find mentors, join groups with like-minded people, and learn everything you can about your industry and what it takes to get from where you are to where you want to be.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Engaging audiences is one of the most important parts of any training, workshop, or presentation. The more a presenter can engage or get a reaction from their audience, the greater the likelihood of their message sticking.

I'm also a professional Voiceover artist, Instructional Designer, and Stage actor. Each holiday season, I bring out my sleigh and perform as Santa in the Atlanta area at all types of venues.
