Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal and business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Dave Urichuck, owner of The Adventure Coach, located in Ottawa, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm an international speaker, professional coach, and published author. I help my clients explore their lives and businesses, better define their beliefs, and achieve their personal and professional goals. I am an expert at helping people gain a new perspective on life so they can improve their careers and business choices. I believe that everyone can define their purpose and passion and live it!

Adventures in nature offer outstanding opportunities for personal growth, which is why I created The Adventure Coach platform. It's a unique coaching practice that offers customized outdoor packages for individuals or groups looking for life-changing experiences.

My clients are motivated individuals looking to grow and make positive changes in their lives. They are also business owners looking to scale up or people looking to start a business of their own.

Tell us about yourself

I've always been inspired by entrepreneurs, especially my grandparents and father, who were all hard-working business owners. There's a creative aspect to running a business that's incredibly appealing to me. It's part of what pushed me to start my own business ventures. Now, with over 25 years of entrepreneurial experience behind me, I work to share my knowledge and help others who venture down this exciting path. Watching my clients find their true path and seeing them grow as an individual and business owners is most certainly what motivates me each and every day in my line of work.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

One of my biggest accomplishments as a business owner would be writing my first book and having it endorsed by Jack Canfield & Brian Tracy.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things but also one of the best things that come with being a business owner, is having full control of your schedule. I get to decide where and when I want to work. It may sound easy, but discipline is required to be most effective during your work hours.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

My top 3 tips for anyone looking to start, run, and/or grow a business are:

  1. Surround yourself with positive people that will inspire you and help shape you into the person that you want to be.
  2. Create S.M.A.R.T. goals, and be sure to start small at first to ensure that you understand the process and complete them.
  3. Hire a coach! Have someone guide you down your path to build the best foundation for you and your business.
