Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Alexandre Miny de Tornaco, Co-Founder of DataBird, located in Paris, France.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

DataBird is a french boot camp dedicated to providing professionals with the most in-demand data analyst skills. Our intensive eight to twelve-week program combines in-person lessons, hands-on coding, and presentations from industry experts. Our students come from different backgrounds: Management, Finance, Marketing, Supply chain, and Operations.

Tell us about yourself

I started working on my business two years ago when I was a student. I met my cofounder at HEC Paris, one of France's most prestigious business schools. We really wanted to have a positive impact on people's life. With EdTeh, we could achieve that.

Today what motivates me stays the same, helping people get the most in-demand skills. Data skills are already in huge demand, and their growth is outstripping the talent pool. DataBird was founded to close this growing skill gap by teaching key analyst skills such as creating tables in SQL and presenting findings by building dashboards in Python, Tableau, and Power BI.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

We managed, within two years, without any external funding, to create a team of 15 people and train more than 2000 people. Now we want to do more and have a bigger impact! Stay tuned for more ;)

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing, and also the most exciting one, is learning new stuff every day. Yesterday I could have an HR problem; today, it can be commercial, and tomorrow, marketing.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Follow what drives you. Being an entrepreneur is challenging, so you need to love what you do. Afterward, get the most advices as possible! Every people you will talk to will be valuable in your journey.
