Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Danielle The Coach, a life and leadership coach based in Richmond, VA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm in the business of coaching entrepreneurs and leaders through life and leadership's major transitions. In essence, I offer life and leadership coaching services. Most of my clients are entrepreneurs looking to do a better job balancing their many responsibilities and ultimately transition out of their 9-to-5 into full-time entrepreneurship status.

Tell us about yourself

Having experienced what I affectionately call "the mid-career crisis" after over a decade working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, I explored the possibility of a major career pivot by doing something I absolutely loved. That's how I found Coaching. I am now a certified life and leadership coach, known socially as 'Danielle The Coach,' and have the privilege of supporting fellow go-getters and leaders with navigating the challenges, changes, and transitions that come with life, entrepreneurship, and leadership. I am living what used to be my wildest dreams, and my daily motivation comes from knowing that I'm operating in my purpose and it doesn't get any better.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Becoming a CEO and, with that, I mean fully embodying what it means to be a chief executive officer. I had the title for a few years before I really understood what it meant to be a CEO. Finally, stepping up to the plate to run and advocate for my business, as such, changed everything. I'm extremely proud of myself for doing what was uncomfortable but necessary.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Solely operating in my zone of genius and delegating everything else has been my biggest hurdle to clear because I do many things well. I've learned the hard way that as a CEO and the "talent" in my business, it's a must that I enlist the right help.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Start now!
  2. Leverage systems and technology as much as possible to simplify your workflow.
  3. Consistency leads to credibility, so show up consistently for yourself and your audience.
