What's your business, and who are your customers?
I own a dance studio that offers classes in tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, and acro. My clientele ranges in age from 2 years old through adults! We have dancers that come once a week for fun and those that love to compete!
Tell us about yourself
I began dancing at the age of 6, started assisting my dance teacher in middle school, and fell in love with it! From that moment, I knew I wanted to teach dance and eventually own my own studio. I graduated from Oklahoma City University and taught for 15 years before taking over Dance Phase in 2009. I am in my 14th season and absolutely love it as much as year one, if not more. Knowing that I make a difference in the lives I teach is what motivates me!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I am most proud of the culture I’ve created at the studio. It’s a safe, family-friendly environment that promotes confidence, discipline, and teamwork. I’ve had several dancers graduate from my studio only to return to work for me throughout their college years or even after they move back home. I love the community we have within our studio; it’s definitely a family. It’s also amazing to see my dancers become successful in life and good humans!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Not being able to please everyone.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Be passionate and authentic about what you do then your job won’t feel like work! It makes life more enjoyable!

Dreams do come true; you just have to work for them!
