Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in beauty and cosmetics but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Daly Beneche, Founder of Arch Angels NYC, located in New York, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My name is Daly, and I am a beauty entrepreneur specializing in permanent makeup. With more than 15 years of work experience in the permanent makeup industry, I managed to found a beauty empire with studios in New York and New Jersey and opened a beauty business school with hundreds of alumni. My customers are men and women of all backgrounds and ages looking to enhance their appearance with permanent makeup. A lot of my clients come to me as they’ve been struggling with insecurities and a lack of confidence. Whether it is uneven eyebrows, Alopecia, or thin lips, permanent makeup is an incredible service that boosts confidence and offers instant results.

Tell us about yourself

I started working in permanent makeup around 15 years ago. What first got me started in this business was that I was looking for a career change. As a former teacher, my days were fully booked with lessons, and I realized I was not the owner of my time. I didn’t have enough time to spend with my family, and I was living paycheck to paycheck. Permanent makeup opened a new world for me. I am extremely grateful. What motivates me every day is to help people get their confidence back and help those who are looking to make a career change. My passion is to teach and help. My family and friends are also a big motivation, as their constant support is very valuable and reinforcing.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is building everything from the ground up. When I started this business, I didn’t know what was needed to open a beauty studio. After investing in my education, practicing, working with incredible people, and trying hard every day, I was able to learn from my mistakes and be the successful person I am today. Today, I own two success studios and a beauty academy with several employees. Furthermore, I have been featured in Beauty Insider, Vice, and other incredible media outlets.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing that comes with being a business owner is the pressure I feel on my shoulders to keep the ball rolling. Being aware that several people depend on me and my business to thrive in order to support their families. I feel like part of my success is my attention to detail; nonetheless, seeking perfection sometimes interferes with my ability to communicate my vision properly. If there is something I’ve learned, it is that building the right team is an essential task. If you build a good relationship with the people around you, you the more chances to have a successful business. Investing in the right team is key to your success.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Invest in your education.
  2. Build the right team.
  3. Follow your intuition.
