Tell us about yourself
I first got started working on my business as just an interest/hobby. I loved the different fragrances candles create, and learning more about the process of making them, I fell in love with that, too! I have a background in science, and I have always indulged in my creative side, so as I began making candles, I realized that I was able to use both aspects that are very important to me! I decided that I wanted to create a business out of my love for candles, along with the fact of having something that I own and am in control of. That is actually still what motivates me until this day: having the say-so and creating wealth. I am able to provide high-quality products with no limitation on my creativity, all for the betterment of other people!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner so far has been just the amount of love I have received from everyone who supports me and my business. I make candles to make other people feel happy, cozy, and comfortable! So it is extremely satisfying when people tell me they love the sound of their candles when they burn, or that the fragrance fills up their whole space, or that they just "feel homey." That's exactly what I wanted, and it's exactly what I got!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner is realizing your strengths and weaknesses. Especially being a small business owner, you're most likely doing all of the roles, and while that may sound fun and interesting, I quickly remembered my background in science and engineering would not help me with accounting. So there has been a lot of learning about the different positions and dynamics of my business that will ultimately create limitless success in our future.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Do your research!!! On the business, the market, the audience, everything!
- Ask yourself if this feels a part of your why. That could make all the difference in your success.
- Be yourself. People may love your product, but having an unapologetic person behind it, makes it THAT much better!
