What's your business, and who are your customers?

Egglife Foods is a better-for-you wrap and tortilla alternative made out of egg whites instead of traditional flour. The low-carb, high-protein wraps have become a simple, delicious, and nutritious solution for a range of consumers. Whether someone has dietary restrictions or is simply just looking for a healthier alternative, the versatility of Egglife wraps allows consumers to enjoy their favorite foods like noodles, wraps, pizzas, sweet desserts, and so much more. Our mission is to inspire better living by transforming the future of food through the joyful simplicity and unexpected power of the egg.

Tell us about yourself

I started at egglife as Chief Supply Chain Officer when our manufacturing plant was nothing but four walls, a dirt floor, and a blank piece of paper. New company start-ups are messy, no matter how much you plan – but having a foundation of the right people, right product, and right skill sets are key in overcoming those challenges and building a successful business. Being able to work with people who are passionate about the product and who also want to succeed while also building a strong community is what motivates me to do what I do.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as Chief Supply Chain Officer at egglife has been our exponential growth. In just under three years, we jumped from manufacturing our products in our founder’s kitchen to a pilot line and then two fully operational product lines, all while facing a pandemic, supply disruptions, and labor shortages.

I always aim to make tomorrow better than today. Whether that’s having to refine the product, build our lines, or grow our people and our capabilities. Constantly being on my toes and continuous improvement is what drives me every day.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

In a role like mine, there is a magnitude of challenges for both established and startup companies. Ensuring there is a well-thought-out plan in place for any obstacles is a large piece of the puzzle, along with maintaining alignment with key stakeholders. On top of that, having a plan B, C, and D in place is key because there is a high likelihood that there will be challenges that will create a need to change direction and course correct. A large part of my role has been preparing for any challenges that come our way, which, while tricky, also keeps things interesting and exciting.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find people to join your team who are passionate and believe in the product.
  2. Have a plan, have a backup plan, and have a backup plan to your backup plan. Contingency planning is key.
  3. Follow the platinum rule - treat others how THEY want to be treated.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Supply chain issues are inevitable with any CPG business, but having extraordinary people and products as your foundation will help you come out successful on the other side.
