Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Victor Egonu, Founder of Cyborg 4 Life, located in Baltimore, MD, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Cyborg 4 Life is an online resource hub of information surrounding limb lengthening surgery. The surgery is performed on patients who need to balance one leg (shorter side) to match the other (taller side) OR to do both legs at the same time to actually get taller for patients unhappy with their height.

Cyborg 4 Life provides helpful information on how the surgery works, how to pick a good surgeon, how to rehab and rebuild properly, and a growing community in the micro-niche industry of advanced orthopedics.

Tell us about yourself

The build-up to the official start of C4L started in 2017 after prospective patients considering the LL surgery would ask me about my leg lengthening experience so they could get a feel of what to expect. And so, after 3 years of back and forth of direct messaging, I decided to start a YouTube channel, where I would cover the topics of the frequently asked questions as well as try to get leading experts in the LL industry to give their perspectives. And so in February 2020, I started my first video and that made it official.

Since then, I have been passionate about answering questions from prospective patients looking to have surgery done, and have provided consultations virtually as well as a new upcoming surgery booking service to help patients find the top surgeons in the field with special perks for being a member of the community.

Some other hobbies I enjoy doing in my leisure time...

  • Train in the gym to be the best drug-free, pro-natural bodybuilder and one day win the world championships.
  • Spending quality time with my girlfriend, family, and friends.
  • Reading books on self-improvement, mindset mastery, business, etc.
  • Taking walks with my 7-year-old (as of 2022) Labradoodle: Casey.
  • Traveling the world for vacation.

I also run a part-time SAAS company to provide local businesses with software to help them run their businesses more efficiently.

I'm half-Italian and half-Nigerian, too...aka the Italian-Nigerian-Stallion!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner has been learning how to network with others and provide value upfront, and that helps build knowledge, like, and trust much more easily in the long run.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The ability to self-motivate yourself when you don't feel like doing what you have to do. That and having to sacrifice lots of leisure and personal time to get things done on time. But it's worth it once you achieve it in the end.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be willing to put in the time to learn how to provide value to others.
  2. Be self-motivated to get up and do what you need to when you don't feel like it.
  3. Be willing to learn the game, especially in the long term. You can't think you'll be rich in 90 days. But you can look at a 5-10 year game, and you will be so much further along if you do.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

You have to love the process, or else you'll burn out fast and won't last long as an entrepreneurial business owner.
