Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kristina Robles, Owner of Custom Nutrition Now, located in Lubbock, TX, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a dietitian with 15 years of experience helping a wide variety of patients prevent and manage chronic conditions through medical nutrition therapy. My customers are adult males and females looking to live a better quality of life with specific health and wellness goals in mind.
Tell us about yourself
I have always wanted to go into private practice as a dietitian. I wanted flexibility in my schedule so I could juggle my career alongside being a full-time mom to three little girls. I have a passion for helping people reach their health goals and feel better and live happier lives.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I started my business in 2022, and I am most proud of taking a leap of faith in myself. I am also proud of building a partnership with Arledge Aesthetics and Plastic Surgery so that I can provide an added layer of benefit through nutrition to the patients there.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I am so passionate about being able to see as many patients as possible. I want the business to succeed, just like anyone else going into business, and I find myself having to try not to get too far ahead, so I don’t get overwhelmed. I am constantly thinking of ways to improve and grow, and it has been difficult at times to find balance.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Have a clear vision for your business. Ask yourself why you want to go into business and what you want to accomplish, or who you want to serve. Don’t lose sight of this vision.
- Set long-term goals but focus on short-term goals as well so you don’t get overwhelmed.
- Believe in yourself and have faith that you are capable of doing things that might feel intimidating or scary. I truly believe that by challenging ourselves, we grow. Without challenge, we become stagnant.
