Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Matt Solarczyk, Founder of Cup of Nurses, located in Lockport, IL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I operate the Cup of Nurses podcast - your source for current health news and hot nursing topics. We don't sugarcoat information or gloss over tough issues. We face topics head-on, debate the subjects at hand and let you, our listeners, make your own decisions. Whether you are in the healthcare field or need to stay informed about healthful living, we have all the latest information.

Tell us about yourself

My name is Matt, and I am a traveling Intensive Care Unit Nurse. I have an appetite for everything related to nursing, science, health, nutrition, and consciousness. After more than four years as a nurse, I was starting to feel restless, like a greater purpose was in store for me. Seeking to make a greater impact, I researched ways I could reach more people while staying true to my medical training. It all clicked when I discovered how impactful writing could be. As I wrote about mindfulness, wellness, and personal development topics, I was encouraged to start a blog, take on travel nursing, and co-found Cup of Nurses with my friend and colleague, Peter.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is being able to facilitate positive change through my blogs, vlogs & podcast. Positive change in helping people become more mindful, taking responsibility for their health, and embracing their internal journey. If we want to advance as a society, we must raise our vibrational frequency and positively change the world.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Time management has been the hardest hurdle to overcome as a business owner. Properly planning your day to be an effective CEO but also creating balance in your life to not feel burned out so you can enjoy the blissfulness that life gives us every day.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Define your why - This will fuel your journey more than any form of motivation from outside sources. Get clear on what is your higher purpose in life?
  2. Never stop learning - Starting your own business is a constant process of growth and learning. With much trial and error involved in business, you will continuously reassess and cultivate better ways to run your business.
  3. Focus on community - This is something I wish I had learned early on; you need to build your tribe. Connect to your target audience and build relationships, give value, and don't expect anything in return.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I started taking clients on coaching them about mindset, removing self-limiting beliefs, and living a more embodied life. The freedom that comes from exploring deeper layers of self. If anyone is interested in living their fullest desires, they can DM on Instagram.
