What's your business, and who are your customers?
Cultivate Cafe is an organic cafe that caters to a variety of dietary choices. We are 100% gluten, corn, soy, and peanut free. We are mostly plant-based but do source local meat products from around the area. We are located in the oldest building in Jackson Hole, set in an old western saloon. We get a variety of customers, from the healthy, clean-eating vegans to the average burger and fries guy. There is something for everyone, and whether you are aware of it or not, you are eating the most organic, clean meal you can get anywhere.
Tell us about yourself
I'm a holistic nutritionist and health coach. I have had a love for cooking all my life. I never set out to be an executive chef or run a restaurant, but I saw an opportunity to create a space that was healing and nurturing, so I took it. I am motivated by helping people. I feel so thrilled when people come to my restaurant and are able to eat everything on the menu where they normally can't. I love healing people through food and am motivated by my staff and my patrons.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I think my biggest accomplishment thus far has been surviving as a small business during the pandemic.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I think it is challenging to have to do EVERYTHING! You are the plumber, the chef, HR, the bookkeeper, and the dishwasher. It's challenging to make it all work smoothly and find the balance.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Make sure you are doing something you love and are passionate about.
- Treat your employees with respect and understanding.
- Create a place that YOU would like to do business with.
