What's your business, and who are your customers?
I have an online metaphysical gifts store called, “Crystal Ladii Gems.” We sell crystals, crystal necklaces, bracelets, rings, waist beads, decor, cleansers, and crystal water bottles. Our customers are free spirits, anyone who loves beautiful gems, and those on their spiritual journey.
Tell us about yourself
I’m a veteran, and I have a bachelor’s in Psychology. I began studying crystals in 2016 during deployment. When I returned home, I purchased my first set and immediately fell in love. I wanted to have the ability to wear my gems which led me to create my first piece of wire-wrapped jewelry. After several compliments and requests, I decided to turn a hobby into a business. What motivates me is the ability to do something I love.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment has been watching my business grow. We are always trying to expand, and being able to see it happen is amazing.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
There’s nothing really hard when it comes to being a business owner. However, I will say that everything is a learning experience.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Do your research! Know things like what you want to sell and your target audience, and begin to develop your marketing strategy.
- Know your business. No one should know more about your business than you do. Researching will be your best friend.
- Invest in yourself and have a plan. There’s nothing worst than having the funds for your business and misusing them. Have a plan to ensure you don’t over or under stock. Invest in a domain so that you’re website is more official.
