Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kris Bryant, founder and owner of Crush It With Kris, located in Boston, MA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I’m a digital marketer and founder of a startup company, Crush It With Kris. My mission is to educate small business owners and content creators (particularly women) in utilizing social media as a tool to stand out and reach their ideal audience. I also share tips and tricks on how to make money online.

Tell us about yourself

My entire life, I knew that working for someone else was never my calling, and I didn’t want to have any regrets as life is already too short. Therefore, taking the leap and becoming a digital marketer and content creator became an aspiration for me, and I haven’t looked back since. Encouraging others who are unfulfilled at their 9-5 to create their own path has become my passion and motivation.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is the collaborative effort my team and I have accomplished this past year in expanding our reach. We worked diligently for months to create social media content and leveraged TikTok to target a wider audience. I’m very proud of the engaged community of 80,000 people we’ve amassed online across our social platforms.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

As a business owner, substantial time alone can lead to self-doubt, which could result in procrastination. If procrastination perpetuates, it makes it challenging to succeed and accomplish one’s goals. It’s beneficial to get coaching from mentors and surround yourself with like-minded people. Initially, mentorship helped shift the needle in my business and improve my mindset.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be patient and believe in yourself, even if others do not see your vision right away. I always encourage my clients to trust their gut and the process.
  2. Consistently market your business, as consistency is such a crucial element when starting. Remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day. Some helpful ways to stay consistent are to batch create social content and plan your days for promotion.
  3. Be kind to yourself and not compare your accomplishments to someone who may appear more popular or successful. This isn’t productive and won’t grow your business.
