What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is a virtual career service development firm based in Halton, Ontario, called Creative Horizons Communications. I specialize in master-level resume writing, brand marketing, LinkedIn profile writing, career transition coaching, interviewing, and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) coaching. My clients consist of a wide range of professionals, from entry-level, mid-level, to senior-level and executive career changers across North America and globally.

Tell us about yourself

The restructuring during the recession initially propelled me to start working on my business, which paved the way for a major career transition from the corporate world to entrepreneurship. After completing my bachelor of arts degree, I identified a need in the labour market to help jobseekers realize their purpose while merging my passion for creative writing and coaching.

Upon embarking on a renowned career association, Career Professionals of Canada, I earned my first resume writing certification. I then launched Creative Horizons Communications after stumbling upon my unique vision to support jobseekers and carved out a strategic mission. Since then, I have successfully positioned thousands of jobseekers of all fields and levels across the globe for their next career milestone.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Being recognized for supporting job seekers globally to embrace their next career move and land lucrative jobs, as well as being awarded for excellence each year for delivering highly effective results for clients/jobseekers.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Sometimes one of the challenging things about being a business owner is balancing work-life demands and priorities.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do your research and be proactive. Investigate labour market trends and best practices.
