Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Craig Ingber, owner of Foreverett Stories, located in Cranford Township, NJ, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Foreverett Stories is a video marketing company that produces web-based branded content. We meld cinema-grade videography with strategic marketing messaging under a project management umbrella. We partner with for- and non-profit businesses (for example, the Yale Public School of Health, Maker's Mark, ServPro, and the Fort Lee NJ Business District) of all sizes and geographies to become their video marketing team - one that feels in-house, serving as an extension of their marketing or communications department.

Tell us about yourself

I was born and raised in Long Island, New York, attended schools in both Washington D.C. and Manhattan, and now live in Cranford, New Jersey, with my wife Emily and our daughter Sienna. I took a life-long desire to create original and impactful works from scratch and, through a long campaign that included landscape architecture, construction management, and a whole lot of inward digging, transformed it into the business that it is today. I love the creativity of the work, the uniqueness of each client, and my ability to help others grow their business or organization.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Starting my business at the worst possible time -- just before the pandemic hit -- and staying the course to keep the business alive and then thrive.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The emotional rollercoaster that is inevitable for any startup business owner and one that has kept me up many a night.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make sure, before you begin, that you have a true entrepreneurial bent and mindset. Be honest with yourself about that.
  2. Do the work necessary to be sure that you will be offering a product or service that is truly wanted by a sufficient number of people.
  3. Understand that you have to spend money to make money, and be sure that you can afford to take the financial hit necessary and for as long as it takes for your business to thrive.
