Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Corey Dissin, owner of The Corey Dissin Companies and The Dissin Design Team, located in Mission Viejo, CA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
For the CEO or an average Joe, I am The Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of Content. I have provided grassroots guidance and have mentored professionals around the world to 10x their personal brands and unique selling positions through social media as a one-on-one marketing and business coach. Entrepreneurs also rely on my motivational support to create a pragmatic and personalized approach to organize time, get you out of your own way, refine sales communications, and optimize business infrastructures. As a long-serving head of two national corporations, owner of two others, and founder and president of a 501c3 non-profit, I put my experience and acumen from all three to work for my clients on day one. Whether you need a co-pilot and counselor as your one-on-one marketing advisor, your brand identity and collateral revamped with The Dissin Design Team, or virtual administrative help through Corey's Business Bodyguard, I have the guts and the nuts to help you and your business to GO GET IT!
Tell us about yourself
I made my bones in the broadcast advertising industry, operating a national video/audio production company. My fingerprint was on over 100,000 unique projects as a broadcast production executive for some of the country's most iconic brands, including Disney on Ice, The Howard Stern Show, Monster Jam, and The Philadelphia 76ers.
In 2018, I began to leverage that experience and my vast network to provide marketing and social media consulting services to entrepreneurs and small business owners.
By July 2020, my consultancy had grown to the point of being able to walk away from the production company altogether.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I think my biggest accomplishment is that I've earned over 100 memorable success stories from my clients, which are all published for the world to see on my website.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Understanding that no one is as passionate about what you do as you are.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Stop waiting for the perfect time because there will never be one. If you want something, get off your ass and outwork everyone to achieve it.
- Consistency over time yields results. Be really good at maintaining a routine of small tasks every day.
- Document with DISS-ipline. DISS-play the power of the pen. Create that pattern of accomplishment each day by writing things down and crossing them off!
