Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Niva Herzig, owner of Core Dynamics Physical Therapy, located in Englewood, NJ, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
People who are struggling with pelvic floor issues such as sexual, bladder, or bowel complaints.
Tell us about yourself
I was fascinated with anatomy, which led me to physical therapy. My interests initially were pregnancy-related, but once I learned of the pelvic floor, more doors opened. I love working with people who struggle with sexual health. I love working with new moms or anyone postpartum and trying to return to their physical activities. And I love to work with people who are struggling with ongoing pelvic pain. I am motivated to help guide people to a better quality of life. I am thrilled to empower the patient.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
The accomplishment is first in celebrating that I did become a business owner and have been for more than 14 years. Further accomplishments are the referrals and positive feedback from past and current patients, as well as those who have referred them to me.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Finding time to balance work and the rest of your life. Releasing the guilt that it is ok to take time off. It is always hard when good employees have to move on and the energy and time to find a replacement.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Go for it and follow your gut.
- Seek guidance and mentoring if needed.
