Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sharlyn Green, Owner of Core Connection, located in Buckeye, AZ, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

The mission of Core Connection Wellness is to help individuals make the lifestyle changes they need to live their best life. Our philosophy is to empower people to make the best choices possible for optimal wellness. As a trainer and Health Coach, I understand that being healthy isn’t just something that happens in your body, so we address the mind, body, and spirit in the wellness equation. As a Movement Re-Education Specialist, an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher, and Corrective Exercise Specialist, I guide my clients to move in ways that build strength and resilience, relieve pain, optimize cardiovascular fitness, and bring better function to their body, bringing in elements of flow learned from years of experience practicing and teaching yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, and Qigong.

Tell us about yourself

From the time I was a small child, I was looking for ways to lose weight and feel better. I had no idea through the years how small choices and changes could have such a big impact on my life. Later, after years of struggle and a diagnosis of an autoimmune disease, I learned how to help myself - and my clients - to make the most of life.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Many of my clients live with chronic conditions, pain, functional issues, or mindset challenges. Seeing each of their lives improve, and their confidence grow continues to be the accomplishment that drives me forward as a small business owner.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things for me is something I preach to all my clients - finding balance in life. I work on that goal every day.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find something you love. Something you’re passionate about - to bring to others. If you don’t believe in your product or service, others can tell.
  2. Find your niche. Get specific about the market you want to serve. If your message is too broad, it won’t reach anyone at all.
  3. Have a plan. Consult others inside or outside of your industry to see what makes them successful. Then have faith that you can make your business happen!
