What's your business, and who are your customers?
Corcova Salt Spa is a natural wellness center that provides stress relief, pain relief, and natural healing therapies. Dry salt therapy (Halotherapy) is our centerpiece, however, we offer many different natural modalities for overall health, including massage and facials, flotation therapy, red light therapy, yoga, spa day packages, private VIP spa day packages, small event space, and more. We cater to all age groups, companies, and individuals.
Tell us about yourself
I have always had an interest in natural healing from a young age. In my early twenties, I started to read about the different ways a person could heal from things other than drugs, and I began to integrate what I was learning into my daily life with great success. It then turned into family and friends seeking me out for advice to help alleviate their health challenges. Corcova Salt Spa was a natural progression of what I loved and had success with in my own life. I've always had the desire to help others. Corcova gave me the opportunity to help people of all ages feel less stressed or have less pain in a natural way. Hearing the stories from our clients on a daily basis ignites our team and me. Hearing that our guests are finding relief and living better and feeling better is extremely rewarding! Each day we get to open our doors to our wonderful community, providing us a chance to make a positive difference in someone's life!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is making a positive difference in the lives of others on a daily basis. Making a difference may be accomplished through employment opportunities for our local community, alleviating someone's stress or pain, having a heartfelt talk with a spa guest during their visit, providing donations to different organizations, teams, or schools in our local community, and creating a space where anyone can come to relax and heal in a serene and tranquil environment.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things that comes with owning a small family business is all that goes on behind the scenes. It looks fun and easy to anyone who has never actually put their whole life on the line. Small business owners have to go "all in," and that is scary and not for everyone. The hardest part is what people don't see, such as the long extended hours you work before and after the operating hours, the struggle of sustaining in a volatile economic climate, pleasing everyone (which is NOT possible), weathering people's, sometimes ridiculous, expectations and unfair and one-sided social media reviews. Small business owners' heart and soul goes into their business every hour of every day. There are no true days off when owning a business, but if you love what you do and you're making a positive contribution to your community, then it's all worth it!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Do what you LOVE, or you will hate what you have to do on a daily basis.
- Do NOT take advice from those who have never done what you are doing or going to do. They must have fruit on the tree!
- DO NOT QUIT under any circumstance! DO NOT QUIT.
