Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in design services but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jonathon Cooper, Owner of Cooperata LLC, located in Fishers, IN, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Cooperata LLC is a full-service design agency providing branding and web development services using the world's most prolific CMS, WordPress. We focus on Real Estate companies but serve a wide range of clientele, such as Capital Investment Companies, Credit Unions, Hospitality, and Multifamily Real Estate.
Tell us about yourself
My business began as a small design firm providing graphic design services for print. As the company grew and the internet matured, the focus of the company turned towards providing branding, web development services, and digital marketing. One of my favorite work-related motivations is the creative collaboration with our clients and seeing a client's business grow after working with Cooperata.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I've been fortunate to win various industry awards, but one of my biggest accomplishments has been the continuing longevity of the business while still spending quality time with my family. I think the work/life balance for solo entrepreneurs is and will continue to be one of the most challenging aspects of the modern hyper-speed business culture.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Some of my most challenging struggles as a business owner are continuing my job-related education, staying profitable, staying relevant, finding and hiring great talent to work with, and discovering clients interested in creative collaboration.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Create a company that helps solve a problem for someone. (Bonus points if you can improve the world somehow).
- Focus on customer attentiveness and identify what your customers need from you.
- Begin with a solid business plan, figure out how to execute it, and then have an emergency plan to pivot in case of sudden economic disruptors.
