Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Stephanie Marquardt, founder and CEO of Continuous Synergy, LLC, located in Ponte Vedra, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Continuous Synergy, LLC helps small business owners with 10-150 employees navigate their company to the next level: providing fractional (part-time) COO / Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS®) Integrator support so that they can focus on the vision and not the day-to-day operations and assisting companies expanding into the Federal Government Contracting arena.

Tell us about yourself

As a former Chief Operating Officer of a federal government contractor, I bring insights into managing the day-to-day of a small business and know that business owners tend to overwork themselves. This can lead to burnout and the loss of the passion that motivated them to start the business in the first place. So, I come in and work with the business owner and take on the process of implementing their priorities so that they can focus on the bigger picture. I look at the strategies and the systems to ensure continued efficiency. The goal is to create a solid foundation removing blocks that are stopping businesses from growth and supporting the owner in creating a leadership team so that they don’t burn out and can focus on their strengths in the business.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is overcoming limiting beliefs and fears. For example, I once thought that selling was for pushy people, and then I realized it was all about helping others. As a result, I didn’t have to do things I had seen others do that seemed pushy, and I could create my sales and customer engagement style.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The hardest thing was moving from an employee mindset to an owner mindset. I had to take the experience and knowledge I gained as an employee but think like a business owner. If I want to move things forward, I need to take action to do that. Right now, no one else has the vision and direction as I do.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Know when you need assistance and your strengths, and then don’t be afraid to build a team to help you run the business.
  2. Take the time to create a vision for where you want the business to be 10,5,3 and 1 year ahead and spend time to work “on” the business.
  3. Having consistent small steps and wins will lead to the larger goal and wins.
