Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Bryana Kappadakunnel, Founder of Conscious Mommy, LLC, located in Redondo Beach, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I help parents become the conscious parent they never had through online workshops, group coaching, and parent coaching. I serve triggered parents who can't help but to react when their children misbehave, talk back, and refuse to comply with a parent's request.

Tell us about yourself

I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and an Infant-Family Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist. I came into this work with my own early childhood traumas and found my calling in being a wounded healer. I am motivated by the thousands of children and parents I've worked with over the past 11 years who have been able to find deeper connection, mutual respect, and an authentic admiration for each other through implementing the framework and steps I teach in the Conscious Mommy method.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Reaching hundreds of thousands of parents per day through social media and helping to expand the conversation around consciously parenting the next generation of future adults has been an incredible accomplishment.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Being a professional female business owner who also uses social media to spread awareness of my message is isolating in many ways. I do not have any close friends who fully understand the extent of this type of journey, and connecting with other professionals in a meaningful way takes a great deal of effort, especially if they do not live in the nearby vicinity.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

First, I'd say know exactly what message or mission you want to accomplish. It needs to be specific, and you need to feel confident in it. Don't do something just because you want to make money. Do it because you care about it. Secondly, know exactly who your audience is. What are their biggest fears? How will you be able to help them? Third, don't give up. Nothing happens overnight. Even if others appear to have overnight success, that is not the only road to success. Trust yourself. Believe in yourself. You can do this.
