What's your business, and who are your customers?
Conscious Aging Solutions provides consultation for adult children and their parents to navigate Western medical and social systems while recommending holistic and conscious alternatives to the standard of care. We offer advocacy and consultation and sell a few products that we recommend. Our customers are typically 55 to 100 years old, and we often work a lot with adult children in their 30s and 40s.
Tell us about yourself
My first job when I was 15 was at a retirement community. I fell deeply in love with older adults. I spent the next ten years working in different levels of housing and care for older adults, and I witnessed the drastic failures of our medical and social systems. I was determined that we could provide better services and give people the dignity that they deserve as they live and age.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Having the freedom to work when I want. There is nothing better than that.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Having to do 30 jobs in 1. When you are first starting, you have to be every part of your business, from a service provider, secretary, marketer, and so much more. It is a lot of work while you don't see immediate returns. It takes patience, faith, and hard work.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Know your market.
- Busyness does not equal cash flow.
- Be willing to make mistakes.
