What's your business, and who are your customers?
I run a production company in Los Angeles, and I throw big events! We call them "Zoovies." I was running Golden Deer Productions in Boston for six years before moving out here, and we serve all the hottest dudes and hottest chicks in LA!
Tell us about yourself
I started creating YouTube videos in 2015 under the alias CoachConnie. It was always my 5-year goal to create a movie in my hometown, and I did! Now, having moved out to LA, my goals are much bigger. I love producing events and bringing people together. My long-term goal is to produce and be in a Marvel movie. Once I do that, I'm leaving the snake pit for good.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
When asked this question, I think most people would refer to a big moment in their business, like making a movie and putting it in theaters, or selling out the biggest venues in Boston, etc. But for me, I am most proud of the fact that I haven't quit. Entrepreneurship is brutally hard, and it's a sick, twisted mental game. But good things come to those who don't quit. You've got to hustle through the droughts.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The loneliness. Running your own business and growing your own career can consume all of your energy. Only you know what it's like. That's why LA has been great for my career. I have been able to surround myself with a ton of other young, creative entrepreneurs.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- You're not that smart—ask questions.
- Literally, never quit.
- Everything takes way longer than you'd expect. Don't quit.
