Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Danielle Mendoza, Founder and CEO of Confident Concept, located in Cape Coral, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We all leave a legacy behind, but doing so with intention is the key to creating the true story of YOU. Confident Concept is dedicated to helping entrepreneurial women expand their impact and increase their revenue as they leave an intentional legacy. Inside the Legacy Project Accelerator, brilliant and driven women CEOs confidently create their book or podcast, plus we develop a plan to launch and leverage successfully.

Tell us about yourself

I’m Danielle Mendoza, wife, mom, podcast host, two-time international best-selling author, and project development consultant. At four months pregnant with my second child, I received the life-altering news that I had basal cell skin cancer. It was a shock, and treating this curable cancer became a real struggle, culminating in the removal of a third of my top lip in 2016. This experience led me to a personal awakening where I had to seriously consider my mortality and decide what I wanted my legacy to be.

During this time, I realized I didn’t want to leave this world before I had the chance to share my gifts & talents with others, and that struck me at my core. No woman should die before she’s had the chance to create a lasting legacy. But many do. Because they live their lives doing without intention, fulfilling their roles as mom, wife, community member, volunteer, and business owner without considering their legacy. We all leave a legacy behind, but doing so with intention is the key to creating the true story of YOU.

I had to wake up and decide how I wanted to create my legacy. Since then, I’ve created a successful business, hosted multiple podcasts, and become an international bestselling author. But none of that would’ve happened if I wasn’t intentional. Now I’m dedicated to combining my unique skills of creativity and efficiency to help brilliant women like you strategize how to leave a lasting impact!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My book, Manifest Success, was published in the fall of 2021 and went bestseller in just 8 hours, topping the charts on Amazon over names like Rachel Hollis, Mindy Kaling, Daniel Pink, and Donald Miller. Then in 2022, because of the impact I've been able to make in the lives and businesses of women around the world, I was nominated for Best Business Consultant in the annual Babecrafted Awards.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I always tell my clients that if you want to face every limiting belief you have, start a business! As business owners, we are forced to "face our stuff" every day while we continue to take risks and stretch ourselves beyond our comfort zone. Facing fear is never easy, and there's no way to avoid it as a business owner! We just have to grow ourselves into the person who can spot it, manage it, and move through it, so the fear doesn't stop us from sharing our greatness with the world.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. If you're ready to start a business, you need to first and foremost learn to shut out all the noise of the business world. Everyone is going to tell you what to do, what's best, and how to make it work. They'll contradict each other, and they'll all be right! So you have to be able to shut out that noise so you can get in touch with your higher power.
  2. Find gratitude every day. Not just gratitude for results, but gratitude for the opportunity to show up and do your best, whatever that looks like at the moment.
  3. Don't wait until the perfect moment to get started! You'll never know it all, and there's no need to become an expert in all the things. Give yourself grace as you take action on your ideas, and let it be a long, experimental journey of finding the success you desire.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

All the business advice you receive will be good - but it might not be good advice for YOU. Take the time to qualify what others tell you to do through your own intuition and personality. If you hate social media, don't join a reels challenge! There is a way to do business that is the right way for you, and only you can discover what fits into that plan.
