What's your business, and who are your customers?
Our business is called Comunidad Exitosa LLC and is focused on helping the Hispanic community in the United States meet their educational goals. We specialize in preparing students to pass the GED exams in Spanish, and we have a variety of students from all over the US.
Tell us about yourself
My sister Tamara Hernandez and I arrived in this great country approximately eight years ago and realized the tremendous educational need of our Latino community. Many Hispanics could not finish their studies in their native countries, and today they cannot aspire to better jobs and salaries. For that reason, we created our YouTube channel at the end of 2016, and people started studying and passing their exams. That motivates us every day because we know the potential that our community has, how hard-working and intelligent they are, and they are here to add value to society.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
We have helped over 3,000 people pass their exams and approximately 40,000 studies through our videos.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the most challenging things as a business owner is that you have to constantly learn new skills to be able to take the business to another level. Everything depends on us, from bookkeeping, marketing, sales, customer service, etc.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Just as we started, we recommend making videos and gaining communication skills to clearly and efficiently convey your service or product. We also recommend being very patient because, at first, growth may be slow, but it can be achieved. Lastly, give 100% of yourself and don't give up.
