Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in jewelry but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lisa Rueff, founder, and CEO of Collective Hearts, located in Sausalito, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Created locally to spread visible love globally, we are on a heart-centered mission to inspire inspiration and hope with our lovingly handcrafted jewelry. We are committed to building a global community, speaking and acting as a powerful force of love. As we open our hearts, we remind one another that love has the power to inspire, uplift, and transform the world. Our customers, known as our "Heart Tribe," are from all over the world, ranging in age from children to elders. Our Heart Tribe is ever-expanding, always welcoming and a collective of people found globally, wearing and sharing their love.

Tell us about yourself

I am a multi-faceted entrepreneur on a mission to spread love, joy, inspiration, and hope in the world. Prior to creating Collective Hearts, I created a board game called Sparked to bring people together to feel connected and inspired. Through creating the game and orchestrating experiences all over the world with it, I realized there needed to be more visible love. So I created Collective Hearts to give people the ability to wear their heart front and center and lead with love.

Every single day I am motivated to make the world a more loving, hopeful, and uplifting place to live. The jewelry provides a wonderful opportunity to see and share love in a meaningful and heartfelt way. In addition to making jewelry, I also have an extensive background in Wellness, so I teach Yoga, Meditation, Breath Work, and lead Sound Healing experiences to nourish people from the inside out.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Collective Hearts has always given back to charitable causes and raised significant funds for organizations in need. We have also designed jewelry for organizations, where 100% of the proceeds directly benefit causes. For instance, right now, we have "Hearts For Ukraine," - - a blue and yellow bracelet set that immediately sold out, and we are currently making more to benefit Ukraine. In June of 2020, we partnered with Black Lives Matter, co-created a necklace together, and raised over $22K in June alone for their organization. Since launching in 2018, we have sold over 65,000 units of heart jewelry - from necklaces to earrings, bracelets to rings. That is an abundance of visible love being gifted, worn, adorned, and adored worldwide. Every single piece of jewelry ever sold has been given back to charitable causes.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

As a business owner, the hardest thing for me is wearing all the hats from website management, shipping, marketing, promotions, and retail shows. It's quite a bit to handle!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Be as organized as possible. Keep detailed records of everything.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?
