Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food & beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Rudy Guisbert, Founder of Cocotu, located in New York, NY, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Specialty coffee from Latin America. My customers are home baristas interested in good coffee and its origins.

Tell us about yourself

I am a coffee lover but mainly a lover and, at the same time, curious about where coffee comes from. It has always caught my attention to know more about Latin America and the reasons why we are not united and why poverty continues, and the same cases of corrupt politicians, anyways, why the same story has been repeating itself for as long as I can remember.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

One of my biggest accomplishments has been to meet the people that work at coffee farms in Latin America and to learn about their lives and the hard work it takes to make a great cup of coffee.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

In my case, the hardest thing is managing finances, taxes, budgets, and anything related to the 'business' area.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make sure you love what you're about to begin.
  2. Set goals and do not give up.
  3. Always remember to have fun at what you do.
