What's your business, and who are your customers?

Clout Coffee was founded out of a passion for coffee, bourbon, and community. What started as a bourbon barrel-aged coffee business quickly grew to serve Rum, Whisky, and Rye lovers too. We also offer traditional roasted Colombian coffee.

Tell us about yourself

I used to manage a private label for a company from 8 to 5. I hated the hours and the cap to my earnings. I wanted to build a brand and a legacy. I love coffee, and I love bourbon. I also love inspiring people to chase their dreams. I love to put more Clout in your cup and help you recharge and take the day on.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

That's a hard question. When I hit a goal, I set the bar higher. That's a blessing and a curse, I suppose. I published a memoir at the end of 2020 titled Seed Money: From Doubt to Clout, and I am really proud of that. After three years of saying I wanted to write a book, I did it.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Time management. There is always more to do, and it's being able to prioritize what needs to be done today and what can wait.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don't be afraid to fail.
  2. You're running a marathon, not a sprint.
  3. Grow your network.
