What's your business, and who are your customers?
I run an appointment-setting agency for small and medium-sized business owners, agency owners and coaches, and consultants.
Tell us about yourself
During my 15 years in digital marketing, I tried it all, e-comm stores, Amazon FBA, Forex market, coaching, etc. In all the business start-ups I tried, I did master one thing. The art of sending cold emails, and that's how it all started. I ended up working for a marketing agency setting appointments from them, and of course, I used my cold email techniques when everyone else was basically cold calling. What motivates me to get up every day is discipline. I've invested a lot in self-development to know that as a business owner, it's not about if I'll have ups and downs. It's about when it will happen. So the only way to get past those bad days, weeks, or even months is to keep pushing and showing up, and putting in the work every day. Besides that, my wife and 3 kids are my biggest reason to push forward and give my best every day. I was able to book 20 appts the first month and 30 the next one, and I was earning a commission on each sale; then I was offered a salary, and I started offering high ticket services. A couple of months later, I was closing deals and making a bunch of money. On my way, a lot of people started asking me how I was able to book so many appointments, and that's when I sold my first cold emailing course. That led me to get clients hiring me to do cold emailing for them. There was so much demand that a year later, I founded my own company ClickATeam, to offer Done For you appointment setting services to business owners!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Being able to gather so many video testimonials of agency owners, coaches, and other small business owners' results and accomplishments thanks to our service. We've basically helped over 1,000 businesses, and we did this through one of the toughest times in this century, the COVID pandemic, when a lot of businesses were going broke.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I guess it changes over time. At first, it is people believing in you. People want to be with you when you're at the top, but not many are willing to help you out on your way to the top. So definitely, loneliness is a real entrepreneur thing at the beginning. Then for me, it's managing a highly effective team, building culture and keeping them motivated, and pushing for the best. It's a skill that was completely new to me, which I had to learn the hard way, but so worth it for growing and scaling a business.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Invest in Skills & ALWAYS Be Learning. More so, if you build something in the digital era or related to online marketing, always stay ahead.
- Be Disciplined in All Areas of Your Personal and Business Life. Motivation will only get you through so much, but discipline will get you past everything else, and believe me, there will be hard times as a business owner.
- Be Humble At All Times. I don't know if this is a proven theory yet, but at least it is for me. It's the fact that every time I lose humbleness, God / the universe /karma / whatever you want to call it, finds a way to break me and bring me back to my knees.
