Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Leah Dawang, Founder of Clear The Way, located in Denver, CO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

You — and all the other 7.8 billion people on the planet — are designed to receive unlimited, unconditional Love. But how often does the discrepancy between your life and that truth look you in the face and laugh? My clients know there is more healing available — more Love to receive — and they want it enough to do something about it. In fact, it was that cackling discrepancy that fueled the determination and hope in my own healing journey. And out of my experience, I created Clear The Way, a holistic coaching practice devoted to creating the conditions for healing and clearing the effects of trauma that block people from receiving unconditional Love.

Tell us about yourself

Since I was little, I've borne the brunt of trauma. From extreme phobias to splintered attachments and everything in between, I traversed life thinking the way I existed was 'normal.' And, perhaps the most painful thought is, for most of the population, it is 'normal.' But then (hallelujah for But thens!) I discovered it might be normal as in common, but it is not inherent.

I first experienced healing on a 15-hour bus ride in Cambodia — a story for another day. It was that experience that lit me ablaze, convinced that not only was healing possible, but we, when given the proper conditions, are designed to heal. In fact, when our lives don't look like unconditional Love, it means there is more healing available and, therefore, more Love available.

Since then, I've steeped myself in neuroscience and cutting-edge modalities to foster as much healing as possible. It's that story of hope that encourages me to stay with pain and challenge, both mine and others', because I know, once unblocked, the Love that is received is transforming.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I built up a lot of debt to myself in starting Clear The Way with no certainty (or chance, for that matter) I was ever going to make it back. For every certificate and training, I chose to believe and invest. When I had the chance to engage with a business coach, I chose to believe and invest. I justified it as just doing something I loved — more of a hobby than a business. Now, not only am I debt free, but I'm joyously making a profit! Though, it's not the profit that feels like my biggest accomplishment — it's that I had the courage to follow something that lit me up even when it didn't financially 'make sense.' My biggest accomplishment is taking the risk to believe, with unconditional Love, I could do it.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Staying true to yourself. It's all too easy to be looking to the left and right at what others are doing. It's even easier to try to be them when you perceive it's 'working' — whatever that means. But when we do that, we lose the very thing that is unique and yields success: ourselves!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Believe you can do it!
  2. Stay true to yourself — your tone, style, vibe, hopes, and dreams. Receive unconditional Love and stay true to yourself.
  3. Remember, everything is connected. The way you live your life is the way you'll run your business. Tend to and care for all elements of life, and your business will thrive.
