What's your business, and who are your customers?
I have the only 100% vegan restaurant in Westerville, Ohio. Everyone is welcome as a customer here. You don't have to be vegan or plant-based to patronize my business.
Tell us about yourself
The business was my wife's (Kim) idea after we had changed our diet to vegan foods. The business started as a delivery service from a commercial kitchen and grew into the restaurant we have today. I am motivated by the people who are not vegan coming into my business every day and finding out that you can eat great-tasting food that is also great for your body and great for the planet.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Opening a brick-and-mortar restaurant after doing a delivery service for 3 years.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Finding competent employees that care about what they're doing. Finding wholesale vegan products.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Take some business courses either online or local community college. Talk with business owners in the field you're going into. Ask questions even if you think they're dumb questions. Listen and take lots of notes.
