What's your business, and who are your customers?

Wedding & Lifestyle photography. Anyone who wants to capture a memory they don't want to forget!

Tell us about yourself

Hi! I'm Kayla. Taking photographs has been something I have enjoyed my entire life, capturing a moment for it to become a memory. Growing up, I began leaping into creative outlets, whether it be dancing ballet or being a hairstylist working in salons. While always dabbling into editing photos or trying to capture a unique shot with a very old camera! I married my husband Hunter in 2016, and then shortly after, in 2019, we had our first child, a beautiful baby girl, Clara Jeanette. In that same year, we lost her in a tragic car crash. Looking back on the memories of our blessed 5 months with her, we wish we had taken more photos. A year later, we had our second child, and we knew never to take a moment for granted. It was then that I took the plunge and bought my first legit camera, and I have been captivated ever since! Clara J. now has 2 little brothers, Levi and Sawyer. My 3 children and my faith motivate me every day.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Getting into weddings! When first starting photography, I thought that weddings were an avenue I never wanted to mingle with, just all the pressure of someone's big day! And now I just love It. If anything, the "pressure" just motivates me more on someone's big day. I thrive in it! So, as they say, never say, never! ;-)

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I honestly can't think of anything that's been the "hardest." Anything can have challenges, but I've enjoyed every step and process of owning my business. As a dedicated and passionate photographer, I am constantly looking for new moments to capture on camera..so that can be a challenge trying to do things that have never been done.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  • Support other businesses in your process! Don't look at anyone as competition, we're all trying to grow in our dreams. So supporting anyone!
  • Secondly, don't doubt yourself. They may be times you want to give up or think your product isn't good or worth it, but it is! Don't doubt it, don't doubt you. Keep at it!
  • Thirdly, show up! Be consistent. I take my camera with me everywhere and business cards. Just keep on, keep on. Practicing your craft. Show up and do your thing!
