Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Allan Madonik, Owner of Cinnaholic High Park, located in Toronto, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We're proud to serve "create your own" cinnamon rolls and other sweet treats like made-from-scratch brownies, cookies, and edible cookie dough. All of our products are freshly baked and 100% vegan, as well as dairy & lactose-free, egg-free and cholesterol-free.

Tell us about yourself

I come from the 'Need' industry of mattresses. However, my wife and I wanted to be involved in a product that customers wanted. That is why we decided to work with Cinnaholic so we can serve Happiness One Day at a time.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

We have hired and trained over 20 staff. We have worked on several trade shows, including Vegandale and CNE, and are going to the Toronto Wedding Show in September.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

No one will care about the business as much as you do. The number of hours you put in is heavy.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Keep your costs down from day one.
  2. Work within your strengths and delegate the rest.
  3. The most talented employee is not your most valuable... keep the hard workers.
