Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in coaching but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Cindy Tsai, Founder of Cindy Tsai MD, located in San Diego, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I have a life coaching practice that takes an integrative mind-body-spirit approach to wellness and combines the art and science of healing. I enjoy working with high-achieving professionals and leaders to decrease stress and avoid burnout so they can become inspiring success stories and an example of what's possible. I also speak and teach at summits, conferences, and corporate events on mindfulness and self-care to improve workplace culture, well-being, and performance.

Tell us about yourself

As a board-certified internal medicine physician and patient myself, I saw and experienced the impact of chronic stress on the body and was compelled to do more than prescribe medications as a bandaid. Through my own healing journey, I explored and trained in a wide range of therapeutic modalities and took an integrative approach to wellness and caring for the person as a whole. I believe that it's only when you are truly well that you can do your most important work in life- which is to share your gifts and make the world a better place.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Writing a bestselling self-help book ("So Much Better: Life-Changing Strategies to Develop Calm, Confidence & Curiosity to Become Your Own Inspiring Success Story") based on mindfulness that provides a simple framework and resources for people to live their best life with ease.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

When you're starting from scratch, everything can feel like an uphill battle. It takes commitment and discipline to stay focused and build momentum, but it's possible! Focus on what's working and celebrate every win!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be clear on your why so that you have a clear vision to stay inspired and motivated.
  2. Get comfortable with being uncomfortable. You will be doing a lot of new things and "failing." Don't let this mean that you won't succeed. Make sure you're in the best mindset. Learn the lessons and keep going.
  3. Don't do it alone. Whether working with mentors/coaches or joining different communities, ensure you have support and guidance along the way.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Focus on being of service and delivering value but remember that service does not mean sacrifice. Don't forget to take care of yourself every step of the way so that you remain at your best as your business grows.
