Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Christina Rinaldo, Founder of Christina Wellness, located in Staten Island, NY, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I have a holistic health coaching business called Christina Wellness. My customers are women who have hormone-balancing issues like fertility problems, painful periods, PMS, gut health issues/bloating, hormonal acne, binge eating, etc.

Tell us about yourself

When I was 16, I went to the gynecologist because I was getting my period twice a month. She said I had PCOS and would have a small chance of getting pregnant. She prescribed me birth control instead of telling me anything about how I could manage PCOS with diet and exercise and have a successful pregnancy in the future. It was scary and sad, and it led me to educate myself on my own. I found holistic ways to support my body, and it made me want to spread the word to other women.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Helping dozens of women reach their "ah-ha" moment and live a life of health is the best accomplishment ever. I saved my first client, who was 25 and was about to get a hysterectomy because her PMDD symptoms were so bad, and the doctor said that was her last option. Now, she lives life with minimal symptoms.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

It's hard wearing all hats in the business, especially since I come from an American corporate background. I'm used to a big team, but getting the hang of getting into a routine and learning, you can't do everything every day.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don't give up. It's hard and, most times, daunting, but it'll be worth it.
  2. Make sure it's something you love and have passion for. Don't just start something for the sake of it.
  3. Don't forget to take time for yourself. Keeping you healthy will translate to a successful and healthy business.
